As you may know, my vision for swingsurgeon.com is to make it the best place in the world for golfers who want to significantly improve their golf game and shoot lower scores. You'll also know that I am a firm believer that you can't become the best player you can be without taking a well-rounded approach that not only is skills-based, but also takes into consideration your fitness and health levels.
In today's daily, I'd like to introduce you to Wayne Coolidge, my new Director of Fitness & Health. I'm really excited about what Wayne brings to the table. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Wayne was well-known regionally, nationally and Internationally as a Health/Fitness consultant. As a trainer, his resume includes professional, as well as, national and world champion amateur athletes. He is a kinesiologist specializing in sport-specific training, bio-mechanics, fitness evaluation, strength training and nutrition. Additional areas of expertise include energy balance/weight control, performance nutrition and paleoanthropology as related to current human health status. Throughout his entire career, Wayne has had just one guiding principle that formed the basis of his approach and that is that everything he teaches his clients must be backed up by sound scientific data. And since the Peak Performance Golf Swing is the only swing that is 100% based on physics and physiology I know that Wayne and his team will fit quite well into The Surge Nation.
Over the next 2-3 months, we will be adding a complete fitness and health component to the website. It will become a place where Wayne, and his impressive team of technical experts in sports medicine, physical therapy, fitness training, chiropractic, and nutrition will offer golf-specific tips and advice on a scale that the golf world has never seen. In the interim, it's my hope that Wayne will join Doc Griffin, Greg MacDonell and Dave Seeman in posting an occasional health and fitness tip on this blog.
For today's video, I traveled to Mooresville, North Carolina where I sat down with Wayne and one of his clients, a retiree named Gerry Smith. Gerry had some heart and lung issues that made any kind of physical effort a potentially life-threatening event. It also meant that Gerry had to stop playing golf several years back. Several months ago, Gerry's wife came across an article on Wayne's program promoting "Active Dynamic Aging." After speaking with Wayne and reviewing Gerry's health issues, she purchased a series of sessions with Wayne in the hopes that he could help Gerry improve his health and enjoy his retirement to the fullest.
So take a look at Gerry's story. What Wayne was able to accomplish with Gerry just blew me away; I hope many of you will be encouraged by what is possible.
Keep fit & healthy!
