Our Director of Club Fitting, Doc Griffin, took some time to answer a question posted on the blog about how to build the right set of golf clubs. Everyone is different, and club head speed is a big determining factor between carrying longer irons or hybrids.
Doc says in the video that he can hit a 5 iron the same distance as a 7 iron. So, since he often plays with younger guys that can hit their irons much longer, he simply plays more hybrids because he hits them a good 30 yards longer than the corresponding iron. If you feel like there is no difference between some of your irons, then stop fighting it and try experimenting with hybrid clubs. There is an exception to every rule, of course, and some things that work for one person may not work for another. Take the time to go see a certified fitter and they will help you figure out exactly what clubs you need to have in your bag.
