And happy clubs hit better shots. Yes, that's an old Surgism. You've seen guys on the PGA Tour, while waiting on the tee, get out a tee and clean the groves with fierce concentration. Why?
If the grooves are clogged with dirt you're giving up control of your game. Dirty heads interfere with ball contact. Get in the habit of cleaning your club after every shot. Make it part of your routine. When I get a new student, his or her clubs are one of the first things I look at. If they have been obviously kept clean, I know I have a real player.
Just like I urge you to take a practice swing before every shot, make it a point to clean your club after every shot. Keep those clubs happy.
