Don Lock Up!

Tue, 06/01/2010 - 15:00 -- Don Trahan

One of my favorite students (I use the term somewhat loosely) when I was Director of Golf Instruction at Harbour Town Golf Links was semi-retired businessman and Harbour Town member, Fred Wynn. Fred had a single digit handicap, thoroughly enjoyed playing golf when business didn'€™t interfere. He has a self-deprecating sense of humor about himself, his game and, fortunately, me.

Those of you who are in the golf business know '€“ and this comes as a surprise to most '€“ the one thing you don'€™t get to do as often as you'€™d like is play golf. Because of my regional tournament play I probably played more than most pros but it was never enough. So when I did have a chance to go 18, Fred was often part of a foursome.

Fred had (or maybe still has) one recurring problem, which he talks about in the video interview we did a little awhile ago. He would lock up his left knee, ruin his dynamic balance and his balls on the practice tee began to head left and right. Remember, after your T-Finish, you should be able to bounce a little on your left leg. Nothing is ever '€œlocked'€ in the Peak Performance Golf Swing.

Fred was kind enough to share his recollections of Harbour Town and of his friend (and pro) yelling at him in an informal interview with our video director, Dave. I thought you'd enjoy it.

The Surge!
