PPGS…Power Source FORMULA!

We know the power source for the Peak Performance Golf Swing has always been about limited turn, where the body moves less so we can swing the arms faster. It's the concept of centrifugal force swinging a rock on a string.

When you hold a rock hanging from your hand on a string and you put the rock in the air and get it whipping it around in a circular motion we know that the more string you have, the faster the rock goes and the less your hand moves. Well, the symbolism of the rock as the clubhead, the string is the forward arm and shaft, and the body symbolizes the hand.

So the whole concept of the setup, with the wide knees with the outward pressure to make the Peak Performance Golf Swing, is that it provides a limited turn, so that the body moves less so we are able to swing our arms faster.

Many of the lessons I've been given lately seem to be having a theme where the golfers that I'm teaching have all had some indoctrination and study if the Peak Performance Golf Swing, have done a good job of getting their Peak Performance set up correct, where the stance is more narrow, the knees are wide over the ankles with a little bit outward pressure, but they don't seem to accelerate their arms in the forward upswing, through the ball and up to the finish.

As I talk to them and try to pick their brain and see what's going on, there seem to be two themes that consistently keep coming out. The first one is that, in many cases, with their own swings they had a lot of turn and a lot of movement. They didn't have the steadiness and simplicity of the Peak Performance Golf Swing. They had such bad problems of consistency in ball impact and contact that they got into trying to hit the ball, put the club on the ball.

That, together with the other major theme that almost everyone has, because every golfer who has ever played golf was told: hit down on the ball. We know that different golfers have different degrees of that to the point where some tell me they were told to pound the club into the ground.

Either of those two thought or any combination of both of those together, trying to hit the ball as well as hit down on it, has one major effect. It tightens the arms and the hands up, in terms of putting the club back, and hitting at the ball. That is totally opposite of the concept we have of swing up to the T-Finish.

If you feel you can't seem to get your arms to really accelerate, if fact feel they might even be moving slower because you've quieted your body with the wide knees and outward pressure so you're holding the body more quiet so you can't swing the arms faster or you're not feeling them swing faster, look into your thought process or the feelings you create in terms of the swing. If you have any feelings about attacking the ball to try to hit it or hitting down on it, get rid of that. You know the concept is, when we transfer out weight, when we make the bump and swing up to the T-Finish, that's the key.

Swinging up is the key to freeing up your arms. For more clubhead speed, you need to swing your arms faster. The formula is simple: Swinging up to the T-Finish frees your arms up and speeds them up.
