Quiet Your Turn, Quiet Your Body

We had a question about the left or front side opening too soon on the downswing and stopping the '€œover the top'€ swing. There'€™s one important word that covers both problems. Quiet.

Opening the hips too soon in the downswing is usually the result of playing with a rotational swing for years. The rotational swing requires you to snap hips around as fast as you can. Well before we do in the Surge Swing.

So the first question you have to ask yourself is if you'€™re turning past the toe line and into the Sacred Burial Ground. To get back to the ball when you turn too far you'€™re forced to turn those hips around and your weight shifts to the left too soon.

The second problem, the '€œover the top'€ is the fact that you'€™ve gone beyond the ¾ backswing, also caused by too big of a turn and two big of s swing.

In this video, you'€™ll see how you have to quiet your turn (the shaft never goes past the toe line) and quiet your body to get the right weight transfer. And you'€™ll learn a very easy drill (you won'€™t use your club. I call it the '€œslap test.'€

So keep it quiet.

The Surge!
