Today I am coming to you from the back porch'except, according to Google Maps, this back porch, in Melissant, Holland is 4,220.806 miles from my home in South Carolina!
I'm here working with Leo van Bennekom, our newest PPGS Certified Instructor as we conduct our first-ever Swing Surgeon golf school in The Netherlands.
The French have a great saying which, roughly translated, is "The more things change, the more they stay the same." And even though our European students have learned the game in an entirely different environment, we found that they came to class with many of the same issues our U.S. Students have.
And what's the #1 problem that 100% of the people I've taught over the last 18 months have?
Alignment! Most of these students had proper setups - good grip, posture and stance for the most part. But not one of them was aligned properly parallel left of their target line. In the Surge Swing our main goal is to learn to hit the ball straight, with just a slight draw or fade. So lining up to the target correctly is absolutely essential, otherwise we might be tempted to adjust something else to get the ball to land where we want it to land. And that, my friends, is a recipe for disaster.
While we are on the subject of hitting the ball straight, I want to give you a heads up that my staff is busy putting the finishing touches on two new videos on how to work the ball for the times when a straight shot just won't work. The first video, "Working The Ball: Techniques To Shape Your Shots" teaches you the proper way to adjust your normal Surge Swing to produce a draw or hook, fade or slice to precisely bend your shots around obstacles. Then in "Situational Shots: On The Course" I take you out on the course for a real life "playing lesson" in applying these principles to some of the most common and difficult situations players are confronted with.
Together, these two videos have nearly three hours of HD-quality instruction with closeups and slow motion replay where appropriate. Anyone who has mastered the basics of the Surge Swing and who wants to now get into more advanced shot making to lower their scores even further will want to have these two titles in their library. They will be ready for sale in a week or two and we will offer them as a discounted package for a limited time right at the outset to encourage as many of you as possible to purchase them. We'll send you the details as soon as everything is ready.
Keep It Vertical,
The Surge
