This drill goes right along with the “palms perpendicular” drill and will help you get the feeling where the toe line is — that line you never want to cross.
Remember, setup determines the motion, and your first motion is the takeaway. Get that right and everything falls into place. This will also help you understand “in the mitt,” where the mitt is in the backswing. You'll be able to watch where your arms are, how much your shoulders are turning, and when to stop turning.
It's a lot more fun if you do it with water, just be sure you're outside.
