Where the Back Elbow Should Be

Thu, 09/09/2010 - 16:00 -- Don Trahan

When you are trying to swing to vertical, I can understand your frustration when you're having problems. There is so much contradictory “advice” out there it is sometimes difficult to separate fact from fiction. I even see it on the Tour.

Like the “flying right (or back) elbow” business, i.e., the “chicken wing.” I've seen pros tuck their glove under their arm pit and tuck their elbows in to make sure the back elbow remains close to their body.

So I did this video to, well, debunk that nonsense. As you'll see, we have no “flying elbow.” We have a dynamically balanced backswing.

Keep those questions coming! And a big hello to all the students we'll see in Port St. Lucie, FL next week. It's going to be great.

The Surge!
