Finding Your Power Swing

Wed, 03/23/2011 - 00:00 -- Don Trahan

I was looking through your comments on the blog and I came across one of the greatest posts I have ever read. Kevin made it very clear to me that he has a strong understanding of the Surge Swing. I want to share his comments with you because he really hits the nail on the head.

Kevin's explanation of the Surge Swing is so accurate that I had to repeat his comments more than once in the video, just to make sure his great points weren't missed. His knowledge of how to maximize your power is dead on. So, great job Kevin! Keep practicing the things you're doing now and I'm sure you, and all the other Surge swingers, will keep hitting it more solid and straight. Two important keys to shooting those lower scores!

The Surge!

But if I play from the center of the fairway, what will I do with all those crazy hooded hooked lefty shots I've practiced for when I get in trouble? ;-)

R2 (D2):

Will do ... although I also wrote to Janet and told her that if it wasn't raining I would be on the range at 3PM this PM.

I also told my fitter about you possibly coming to San Diego for a fitting and he is very interested in supporting you and getting you 25-30 more yards and hitting the fairway 50% more often. if you are willing to apply yourself at the process you can likely get 40 or more yards ... maybe a lot more. Some of the increase is based on your genetic potential and some is based on how much you want to apply yourself at the task.

Free fitting for a free shaft that will deliver a lot more distance and accuracy. Just show up. I will get Janet's phone number at Stadium (if she really left it) this afternoon or will see her if she shows at 3PM.

Right on video! One question I haven't seen answered. When doing the forward bump at the top of my backswing, I've noticed the feeling of straightening my left leg at the same time seems to help me with this move. Right or wrong?
thanks,
Dave

Wkerney -- I guarantee you that my phone number is waiting for you in the golf shop at Stadium Golf. Also, in case you didn't read my earlier posts from today in reply to yours of last night -- I can't make it at 3:00 today. I have a job and work until 5:00. I am going out of town this weekend. I would be happy to meet you some evening after work next week. I have every intention of following through with this whole deal. Do you?

Dave, straightening your left leg will tend to spin your hips rather than let them move laterally forward. You want to keep the knees (both knees) flexed all the way through impact until you stand up at the finish. Watch DJ's knees in these videos of his swing (he's wearing shorts, which makes it easy to see what's going on): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Hey Steve,

We had a server crash today that supplies mail and DNS services for the site (not the web servers or database servers) and that hiccup with the DNS is causing people not to be able to resolve the domain name. This will eventually iron itself out, but being the nature of DNS it may take 24 to 48 hours for changes to take affect. We moved DNS servers today as soon as the server crashed.

I'll get a message up on the right side of the blog tonight. I been nose to the grindstone getting the server back into service till I can replace it over the weekend. Never a dull moment :)

T Medley,
Periodically I read the blogs and I find that you are the most helpful person to the rest of the fellow bloggers by your comments and pointers to get to the right information. Thank you and keep up the good work !

She gets that stuff from a GNC store. My son drinks it too. I don't know enough about it to know if hydrolyzed whey is comparable to hydrolyzed kosher collagen or not.
I just try to eat things like tuna and lean meats and lots of vegetables and do a ton of work.
My wife has it a little harder because she works in a kitchen for a boys camp and has plenty of bad (or good) things to eat all of the time. The only thing to eat where I work is steel dust (and I probably eat my share of that). LOL

If you meet him on Monday or Thursday night next week, I can stop by on my way home. I want to witness the use of the magic shaft.

Hey, Phil,

I think this was from a conversation before the switch back to Disqus, so the particular comments may not currently be visible (see the web master's note in the top right of the video space).

Kind of weird though because this is the only site I can't access.
