Swing Update From The Surge

Fri, 04/13/2012 - 19:31 -- Don Trahan

Today I'd like to give you all an update on what I've been working on with my swing. Because I conduct golf schools and private lessons on a regular basis, it's important for me to always be on top of my game. If I can't perform the swing that I am teaching, it's likely that the student won't buy into what he or she is being taught.

I consider myself to be the best Surge Swinger out there because I've been doing this for so long. Yet, I rarely practice on the driving range. Most of my practice comes from these backyard daily lessons and any demonstrations I give on a lesson tee. That means sometimes I've got to put in some self analysis on my own game in order to keep it sharp. Recently, I wrote down some notes that remind me that I've got to load my right leg in order to swing up to the finish better. Posture also plays a big role in the loading of my right leg. It all comes back to what I like to call technical excellence. If we don't practice with a purpose and work on the right things, our game can suffer as a result.

As you'll see in the video, I explain how other sports utilize the same loading motion that I'm referring to in the Peak Performance Golf Swing.

Keep it vertical,

The Surge!

Ya'll are depressing me. Between you pounding your driver down the middle all day and Robert saying the other day that he always expects to get up and down from 110 and in and both of ya'll hitting all those iron shots and even punch shots in heavy wind to pin high so often I need to start practicing more. Ha ha!

All jokes aside I'm glad ya'll are hitting the ball well.

I'm lucky to hit a few tee shots down the middle and lucky to get the ball on the green from anything outside of 100 yards (much less close enough to make the putt).

Best I can usually hope for is to figure out ways to make pars out of bad shots and a few birdies or eagles out of the few good ones, and do my best to keep any bogies off of the card.

Surge has said before that he does not like the forward press. It adds an extra motion in the wrong direction.

Dick,

Stayed up waiting to see if you were ok.  Glad to see you dodged the bullets.  Things like this always seem to bring out the best in people.  Stay safe.
