Well, Keenan decided to use all the tips we worked on to go out and win the 2015 South Carolina Amateur Championship before I was able to show our full lesson! I couldn't be happier and honestly, I'm not the least bit surprised. Keenan was striping every club in the bag by the end of our session together. I had no doubt that he was ready to go compete this summer, and now he's come out with a bang and proven he can handle the pressure of winning a big golf tournament.

Perhaps the most impressive accomplishment was that Keenan won by 9 shots over the next closest competitor by shooting 19 under par.

Today's short video talks about grip pressure and clubface position. We firmed up Keenan's grip a little bit to give him even more balance and control of the club. The results are certainly paying off for him!

Remember, Keenan's a lefty, so he's showing that a vertical swing works just as well on the other side of the ball too!

I always struggle with the transition forward in the swing, specifically the initial movement forward. I know that traditional instruction teaches a hip bump forward. This forward movement is actually a separation of the vertical plane of the front hip away from the shoulder.

Are you an advocate of this transition move? If not, what is the initial transition move forward for a Peak Performance golf swing?

Surge teaches that the transition into the forward upswing is started with a very "slight bump" of the forward hip (1 or 2 inches max) as the club reaches the top of the backswing. No hip turn, just a bump and weight transfer to the forward foot. This move is explained in great detail, including pictures, on pages 104, 105 and 106 of the Foundations Manual (v-2). I can highly recommend the Foundations Manual - it details everything you need to know about the PPGS. Take care, R2
